Square Inch Price
I charge 2.5+/3.5+ cents per square inch for an edge to edge depending on design and density. Pricing is based on density of the quilting, which is the amount of bobbins used and stitches in the computerized program. Designs can be made bigger or smaller and price with reflect that.
Custom quilting (anything other than E2E) starts at 5 cents per square inch.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 and will cost $120 and up for an edge to edge design.
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
RUSH order. I can RUSH your order for an additional $75 and will have it done within 48 hours of receipt. This needs to be negotiated prior to drop off so I can make sure my schedule is free.
I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 70/30 cotton/silky blend, 100% cotton-both Select and Deluxe , and Dream bamboo blend. I have limited quantities of wool batting in stock, please ask for availability.
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton Deluxe @ $0.50/in = $32.50
65" of 80/20 cotton/silky blend @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of Dream Bamboo @ $0.45/in = $29.25
King batting-100% cotton-Select loft only (used in any quilt with ALL sides OVER 87") $0.55/in
**You may supply your own batting but I cannot guarantee the outcome of the thread tension. Quilter's Dream works flawlessly with my machine and thread so I definitely recommend using it for a great result!
I work exclusively with Glide (#40 & #60 weight) Some of the designs are very intricate and will use a lot of thread. The first 3 bobbins are included with the square inch price, anything over that will be charged at $3.00 per bobbin.
My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color. The same thread color will be used in both top and bobbin thread.
I am happy to bind your quilt for you! Provide me with enough yardage of selected fabric and I will machine bind- attached to back of quilt and stitched to the front. Cost is $.25/linear inch. A quilt 60x80/ 280 linear inches= $70.00
I'm not a professional photographer but I do my best to take quality photos of your completed quilt. Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt in my well-lit studio and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Colorado, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it. That being said, I cannot accept responsibility of any damage or failure to arrive once the quilt is picked and scanned by USPS. Any issues will need to be addressed directly with USPS.
As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Colorado to collect a 8.15% sales tax on batting or design/pantograph fees. There is no tax on shipping or quilting fees. No sales tax is charged outside the state of Colorado.
I also charge $25/hr for my time spent ironing, clipping threads or repairing seams to get the quilt ready for quilting and for time and materials spent working in fullness on quilts that are not square. Those fees can easily be avoided by taking some time to prepare your quilt before giving it to me! :)
After the work is complete, I will email invoice you via Quickbooks. I accept credit cards/bank transfers/Paypal, Zelle, cash and checks. I really do appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away.
